Like many massage therapists, Sherri has worked across several industries. Since age eighteen, she has held and maintained two cosmetology licenses, earned a degree in Fashion Design from UNT, and completed two associate degrees at Tarrant County College in General Business and Health Information, along with her Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) certification.
Early in her health information career, she saw the impact of massage therapy when her dog, Indy, was injured. After receiving a poor prognosis and being told there was no deep pain response, Indy recovered to about ninety-five percent within nine months. Years later, Sherri became a massage therapist and began working part-time.
Her career spans cosmetology, fashion design, medical record coding, and massage therapy. She later became a massage therapy instructor and taught at Tarrant County College for ten years.
Her experience in coding gave her a strong foundation in anatomy and physiology, pathology, and kinesiology—the study of human movement—which she uses to help students understand how the body responds to massage.
